I shouldn't condone this

And yet, I can't help but laugh. New rule: any and all misbehavior will be excused if it cracks me up. All is forgiven, guy who made up fake reviews and put them on movie posters!

I also have to laugh at the news reporter/anchor saying, "Normally, we wouldn't put this stunt on the air." I think he should have finished the sentence with "... except we really really wanted to."

...

Update: I found this, which is the same play as executed by the Burger King mascot.

Also: I have to enjoy that he pleaded innocent.

Happy Anniversary, Red Sox Nation

Even if I'm a day late.

Bob Ryan, last year

It took a little while, but the championship of baseball has come back where it belongs. Since the 1870s, baseball has resided in the heart of Boston. While an entire nation has sold its soul to the violence and essential callousness of football, Boston has been a proud, stubborn holdout, preferring a more subtle, intricatesport appealing equally to the mind and the senses. If we are the only locale in America in which baseball is king, so be it. When you're right, you're right.

Larry! Larry! Larry!

Man requests longer prison term to honor Larry Bird

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A man got a prison term longer than prosecutors and defense attorneys had agreed to -- all because of Larry Bird.

The lawyers reached a plea agreement Tuesday for a 30-year term for a man accused of shooting with an intent to kill and robbery. But Eric James Torpy wanted his prison term to match Bird's jersey number 33.

"He said if he was going to go down, he was going to go down in Larry Bird's jersey," Oklahoma County District Judge Ray Elliott said Wednesday. "We accommodated his request and he was just as happy as he could be.

"I've never seen anything like this in 26 years in the courthouse. But, I know the DA is happy about it."

Someone else's writing

The point of having this page -- if one exists at all -- is for me to write. Yet, I present this magnificient piece from my friend, Ethan, which I had nothing to do with.

Weak

Proud, and irritated.

Proud about cheering Graffanino, irritated about troting out Tom Brunansky for the first pitch. Childish. Yankee-like.

The cheers ought to put to rest any comparision of Tony G. with Buckner, not that it's stopped various mediots from saying it. No angst, I promise.

I watched Bruno's catch on TV. If I remember correctly, there was absolutely no camera angle that confirmed he actually caught the ball, and the ump was in no position to see, either.

WHITE SOX 9TH: Pasqua grounded out (first unassisted); Ventura flied to left; Sosa singled to center; Fletcher was hit by a pitch [Sosa to second]; MCCRAY RAN FOR FLETCHER; Guillen lined to right; 0 R, 1 H, 0 E, 2 LOB. White Sox 1, Red Sox 3.
