My address book -- my personal address book -- is now a Rolodex.

There is nothing personal about a Rolodex. Its easily removed cards demonstrates exactly how impermanent (replaceable?) you expect your relationships to be. All hail the scratch-outs and erasures of a real address book, which show how you're willing to endure thick and thin--and many moves--to remain friends.
