Terrific dumb things I once said

"Mike Lowell is the tax on Josh Beckett."

  • Just an observation: have you noticed Lowell's home/road splits? He was greatly aided by Fenway park this year:
    .373/.418/.575 at home, .276/.339/.428 on the road. Of course, his splits were totally reversed in 2006, and he's played great defense consistently.

    I think it will be interesting, though, if the Yankees throw a lot of money him. As Buster Olney linked in his blog today:

    This is his spray chart from Fenway Park this year, and you can click that to get to his chart in Yankee Stadium. Look specifically at the home runs, singles and doubles.

    I think he's worth more to Boston than he would be to New York.
